The races, and the car-free reality
The 97th International Lauberhorn Races run 15–17 January 2027 in Wengen — the super-G on Friday, the famous downhill on Saturday 16 January, and the slalom on Sunday (the detailed schedule is provisional; confirm start times at lauberhorn.ch). Wengen itself is car-free: no private vehicle can drive up to the village. You reach it from Lauterbrunnen in the valley, where a paid multi-storey car park sits by the station and the cog railway climbs to Wengen in about 11–15 minutes.
How a private transfer fits a car-free village
Because you cannot drive into Wengen, the clean plan is a private transfer from Zurich or the airport to Lauterbrunnen station — with your luggage and ski gear carried door to valley — and then the short train up. On race weekend the trains and the Lauterbrunnen car park are busy, so arriving by private car on your own schedule, rather than changing trains across the country with equipment, takes the strain out of the day.
Why visitors book a private transfer
Swiss Touristy has run private, fixed-price transfers across Switzerland for 25+ years, including from Zurich and Zurich Airport to Lauterbrunnen and the Jungfrau region. You see the full price for your route before you travel — no meter, no surprises. Airport pickups include 60 minutes of free waiting from your effective arrival time and a meet-and-greet at arrivals, and every quote allows free cancellation up to 24 hours before pickup. For families and groups arriving with ski gear, it is the simplest way to reach the foot of the Lauberhorn.
